What is a payment gateway?
A payment gateway is a service that takes a payment from a customer through a method like UPI, confirms that the money was received, and tells the merchant's system the result so the order can be fulfilled.
The steps
- Your site creates an order with the gateway.
- The customer pays on the gateway's checkout.
- The gateway confirms the payment.
- The gateway notifies your server with a signed callback.
- Funds are added to your balance for payout.
Gateway vs. payment link
A payment link uses the same gateway, but instead of an API integration you share a URL with the customer.
